Home Free is a perfect fusion of comedy and four-part harmony. Built upon the acoustic beauty of "a cappella" and
combined with one astounding vocal percussionist, Home Free has been amazing audiences all over the Midwest
since 2000. With their extensive theatrical and musical training leading the way, Home Free’s performances
showcase a new, animated, and electrifying experience that leaves audiences breathless.
Eschewing traditional forms of a cappella, Home Free is carving new ground, expanding their audience’s horizons,
and introducing its own unique flavor to the musical world. Their genre of music is an expansive mix from pop
songs to classical and even techno, all successfully done with only the human voice and microphones. This music
is put to the explosive beats of one of the most exciting vocal percussionists in the a cappella scene.
Home Free has performed for a diverse clientele, ranging from the Minnesota Vikings to the Mall of America. They
also devote their time to educating and encouraging music in our public schools through innovative workshops and
concert fundraising. Their programs have raised thousands of dollars for local schools in Minnesota.

Home Free - Bio
Matt Atwood was born, raised, and educated in Mankato, MN where he graduated from East High
and studied theatre at Minnesota State University - Mankato. Matt is now a professional actor in
the Twin Cities having appeared in Les Miserables and Joseph...Dreamcoat at Chanhassen
Dinner Theatres and is now starring in Forever Plaid at the Old Log Theatre. In his free time, Matt
enjoys designing websites, playing outdoors, and watching LOST on ABC! Matt is a proud
founding member of Home Free and creator of the MusicInOurSchools.org program.

Chris Rupp grew up in Mankato with his brother Adam (see below) graduating from Mankato
East. He later attended Gustavus Adolphus College and Minnesota State University - Mankato
graduating with a bachelor of arts in music. Chris was the founding force behind the group when
Home Free first began in 2001. He also does the cast majority of the arranging for the group..
Outside of Home Free Chris is a private music instructor in piano, guitar, bass guitar and voice.
He has also worked as a video game designer for Microsoft at several points in his life. Yes, he
got paid to play video games.


Chris Foss grew up in Southwest Iowa, graduating from Lewis Central High School. He then
continued his studies at Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois, where he continued to cultivate his
love of singing with a degree in commercial music. After a quick two years in Lincoln, Nebraska
earning his master's degree, Chris has relocated to the Twin Cities and is a proud member of
Home Free since 2007. From jazz, musical theatre, and classical, to rock, folk, and hip-hop,
Chris loves all types of singing, no matter the size or shape in which it comes. In his spare time,
Chris enjoys playing ultimate frisbee, and making lots of loud noises that annoy his housemates.


Adam Rupp has called Mankato home since the day he was born.. He graduated from Mankato
East High School and earned a bachelor's of arts degree from Gustavus Adolphus College with
a focus on trumpet. Those techniques naturaly translated into the beat-boxing skills he utilizes
now, helping him to become one of the Midwest's best vocal-percussionists. Outside of Home
Free, he still plays the trumpet and actively participates with bands on a weekly basis as a
jack-of-all-trades playing bass guitar, drums, and the keys. Adam is a founding member of
Home Free and has been a guest artist with various a cappella groups around the Midwest.
