I had the pleasure of having the group “Home Free A cappella” come and work with my students on May 1, 2006.
They came to all of my choir rehearsals (including 8:00 AM!!) and presented a workshop.  They had a great repoire
with my students and used humor while they sang and talked and answered questions.

Between my choir rehearsals, they agreed to sing for our elementary and middle school students, all for the same
low fee.  (I have paid a higher fee for other a cappella singing groups to come and sing a concert and not work with
my choirs;  Home Free was a much more educational experience for less money!!)

The evening concert went very well, and we raised over one thousand dollars for our music program.  We were able
to feature some of our HS groups as an “opener” for the concert.  These young men had great energy, outstanding
vocals, and a great stage presence.  They were also very polite and easy to work with.  This was a great experience
for us.

Sincerely,

To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing this letter on behalf of HOMEFREE an a cappella group that performed North Branch High School on
January 29, 2007.  I have been the choral director at North Branch High School for the past 22 years and have had
the privilege of working with many fine instrumental and vocal groups over the years.  HOMEFREE was one of the
best that has been at North Branch High School.

Our professional relationship started last fall when Matt Atwood contacted me about bringing the group to North
Branch to do a workshop for my students and then a concert as a fundraising event.  From the very beginning I
knew that I was dealing with professionals.  Knowing my community I felt it would be best if they came to do a mini-
concert/workshop several weeks before the evening concert.  I felt that would generate more interest and boost our
ticket sales.  Even though they had not done it that way before they were willing to try and accommodate our
community.  On January 12, 2007 they arrived promptly, set up their equipment and then proceeded to do 5 mini-
concerts/workshops throughout the day.  Their enthusiasm never wavered.  Their interaction with the students was
professional but fun.  My students saw 5 performers who loved what they were doing.  When they worked with my
Treble choir and show choir I was impressed with their musical knowledge.  They were great clinicians who were
able to communicate their knowledge with high school students.

On January 29th they returned for the evening concert.  Again I saw professionals.  They arrived, set up in a timely
fashion and then gave the North Branch community a fine show.  Our audience included many different age and
peer groups.  Their show and the audience interaction crossed all age and cultural differences.  I did not hear any
complaints about the performance or the cost of the tickets.  In fact several people said they would have paid more!
The next day at school I heard many positive comments about the show from students not involved in the music
program at NBHS.  The first question that students asked me was, “When will they be coming back?”

I encourage any school to consider them coming and working with your students.  They will learn a lot as well as
raise funds for your program.  It was definitely a win win situation.

Sincerely,

When Home Free came to Kenyon-Wanamingo Schools, it was even better for my students than I expected it to be.
These five young men demonstrated a high level of professionalism in their performance and were more than
happy to work with and encourage my students all day long through workshops and assemblies.

We raised over $600 towards new uniforms for our choir in one evening and my students were motivated and
excited once again to sing.  The performance and fun Home Free brought inspired my students to ask how they
could do the same thing.

I would recommend Home Free for any program, as they are a fun group and came prepared to work all day long
for the musical health of my students.  Their concert that evening was exceptional and well received by all in
attendance.

Sincerely,

To Whom It May Concern:

As the choir director at Byron High School, I would highly recommend "Home Free."  Having this fun group of guys
come to our school was a win/win situation!

The term "acappella" means "without instruments, voices only", but from the sounds of the concert performed on
Saturday, February 10, concert goers could swear there was an invisible drum set on stage!  The group "Home
Free" dazzled audiences with four-part harmonies and a vocal percussionist that was outstanding!

On Friday, February 9th Home Free worked with middle school and high school choirs as well as performed during
lunch at the high school and ended the day with an all-school assembly at the middle school.

During the high school workshops, the group members used the melody of "Feelin' Groovy" to demonstrate how
they create their four-part harmonies.  The middle school students were given lessons in creating vocal percussion
sounds, which they did quite proficiently!

During the evening concert, Home Free sang a wide variety of musical selections ranging from their own rendition
of Simon and Garfunkel's "Bridge Over Troubled Waters" to a medley of Disney animated musicals and even to a
few country hits.

The audience members both at the school and at the evening concert were entertained by the performers' antics.
"Home Free" members answered many questions from students during the day and shared some humorous
stories with the audience in the evening.

One woman leaving the evening show said, "They were wonderful performers with a wide variety of music to offer.  I
had so much fun -- it was a great time!"  Her husband said, "The Byron students were lucky to have exposure to
such a talented singing group during school, and now at the concert."

Communication with the group was quite easy for me since they have a great website and they stayed in contact
with me via email every step of the way, from finalizing a date to printing posters to scheduling the day and evening
activities.

Overall, it was a great experience for the students and the community members who came to hear this group of five
very talented young men!  After the concert, one of my students remarked, "That's the best $.00 I've ever spent!"

Sincerely,
Susan Braun
