Hello one and all! After a long hiatus, Home Free is back with an update. There has been so much that has happened I don't even know where to begin! So, Ill start with the biggest bit of news, the cruise ship.
Alaska was beautiful. Wow. We just got back from doing 4 months up and down the Alaskan coast onboard Celebrity Cruises. We were very well loved on the ship; several of the staff said that we were the best group they've ever had out there, which was very flattering for us. If you're interested in seeing some clips of us on the ship, you can go to www.thehomefreegroup.com/celebrity and download some of our sets that we videotaped.
That all being said, we ARE back now, and getting things back into gear. We have both sad news, and good news! First off, the goodbyes. Joe Fine, our esteemed bass for the last three years, has decided its time to move on to new pastures for him. Hell still be involved occasionally on a substitute basis, but his career is taking him in a different direction. We certainly thank him for his contributions over the years and wish him the best for the future. Also along those lines, Jeff Grider, who sang tenor for us on the ship while Matt was at Chanhassen, is also moving on now (possibly to manage several hotel bars in Costa Rica...yeah, tough life huh). We had a great time with him and also wish him the best.
On the plus side though, we have some new introductions to make. Its time to formally welcome two new members into Home Free. First off is our new bass, Chris Foss. Chris just graduated with a Masters degree from the University of Nebraska in choral conducting, and has just been hired as a church music director in the Twin Cities. Hes an absolutely fantastic bass and we're very lucky to have him. Secondly, we also welcome Jon Mclemore into our group. Jon is a extremely accomplished tenor singer in the a cappella world. He has sung in such professional groups as Four Shadow, Go Fish, Vocal Tonic, and NoJoe. He also just recently released a full length duet album with his brother, and brings a wealth of a cappella knowledge to the group. Or at least lots of funny stories from his past adventures.
So, the next question is when can I hear these wonderful new people? Well, the answer is our 5th annual Hosanna Fall Concert. This concert has become quite the yearly tradition or us, giving us a chance to give back to those who have supported us since our conception, and also to debut everything thats new with the group. We think this one will definitely be our best one yet!
The concert is going to be Monday, Oct 29th, at 7pm at Hosanna Lutheran Church. The concert is free (though we gladly accept donations) and generally runs around an hour. We really hope to see everyone there...and bring your friends and family too!
Finally, our CD has been selling great for us. We're very proud of how it has all turned out. If you haven't had a chance to pick one up yet, what have you been waiting for? You can listen to clips and purchase it here at www.homefreefromthetop.com. They also make great Christmas presents!
Well, that more or less wraps it up. As always everyone, thank you for your support, and we hope to see you at a future concert of ours soon!
